You need to relax!
There is so much more to life than working hard all day every day. Yes it is important to accomplish your goals and you need to work hard to do that, but it is also important to pamper yourself once in a while. And by once in a while, I mean about once a week. If you don’t have some “me” time and take a breather then you are very quickly going to burnout. I give myself one night a week to pamper myself with an at-home spa night (two nights if it’s a rough week).
Delicious Dinner is a must.
Having a dinner that you love is the perfect start to the perfect relaxing night. It could be a complex dish that takes time, a simple sandwich, or take-out. Whatever your favorite food is, that is what I recommend having. It can be relaxing, but the main point of this is that delicious food is such a mood booster.
Tidy Up
If you’re like me, then you cannot fully relax until the house is clean. After dinner, I suggest cleaning up the kitchen, bedroom, and just tidying up. It doesn’t have to be a deep clean, or should even take a while. It just needs to be picked up. I usually just make sure the kitchen is clean, straighten up the pillows on the couch, and make sure that the bed is made.
Diffuser On & Comfy Clothes Out
I love diffusing oils at night; especially the oil At Peace which contains lavender and other relaxing scents. Once the diffuser is going, setting out the comfiest clothes is next on the list. This could be silk pajamas, leggings with an oversized t-shirt, or an old pair of underwear with a raggedy t-shirt.
Grab a Cup of Tea and Run the Bath
I love a cup of tea while taking my bath, it just elevates my relaxation level. After steeping some tea, running a bath is next. To create the perfect bath, I add bath salts, foaming bath, and a bath bomb. While the bath is running, a face mask is applied. To fully relax and enjoy the bath, I typically soak for about 30 minutes. If you’re like me and get bored just sitting there; Then I recommend listening to music, a podcast, or watching some Netflix (I prop my iPad up on my bathroom cart)
Off to Bed
After the bath, it is time to take off the face mask that you forgot about using either a makeup wipe or a makeup removing towel. Then it is the moment most people look forward to all day, putting those comfy clothes and jumping into bed. Most people encourage turning off your screens and reading a book before bed. I’m sure that it works for a lot of people which is great for them. I, on the other hand, am on my phone until I fall asleep. Is it a bad habit? Maybe. Will I keep doing it? Absolutely.
Don’t forget to take time for yourself. Whether you live on your own, with your significant other, or with a huge family; It is so important to have “me” time. It doesn’t have to be a bath with a glass of wine. Your time for yourself can be whatever you find relaxing. So kick back, relax, and give yourself the break that you deserve.
I love this! You literally incorporate every important thing when it comes to self care. Cleaning up, diffuser or candles these are what help me get things done.
Your blog is so cute! I forget to treat myself every once in a while, so this was a great reminder 🙂
Thank you so much! Make sure you treat yourself lovely! 💛
Lovely reading that, Madison. My favourite is to tidy up home. I feel some sort of psychological relief when I finally clean my lounge every night (as it’s rare to keep it clean during the day with the kids!)
Self-care is so important! Thank you for sharing these 🙂 Absolutely adore your blog!
Thank you!! That means a lot!
I agree with all but especially the clening up bit. My family says I am crazy, but I can not relax until I tiddy up.
I love my diffuser! Great tips 🙂
