Everyone Has Bad Days…
It’s perfectly okay to have a bad day, so don’t beat yourself up if you aren’t always a cheery person. But have you ever had those days or moments when you just aren’t in a good place mentally and all you want is to just be able to smile? I have those days sometimes and it just frustrates me, even more, when I can’t be happy. In order to combat this little problem that I, and I’m sure others have; I have come up with 7 things that we can do to boost our happiness level instantly.
Listen to a Feel-Good Playlist
Music can greatly impact your mood and how you feel, so listening to a playlist full of happy time music can greatly affect your happiness level. I turn on my Summer Vibes playlist after a long day of work or when I’m just not in the right mindset. I will be sending out this playlist to all of my subscribers, so if you would like this free playlist, feel free to join the Happily Caffeinated Family!
Buy or Make Coffee
Coffee is just the best and should be consumed no matter what. I typically just make coffee at home just because it’s quick and free, but sometimes it’s just nice to go through the Starbucks drive-through and order a delicious Venti Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew. There is just something about going for a drive with the windows down, music blasting, and sipping on an iced coffee. If you would like to learn how I make my own iced coffee, you check that recipe out here.
Write Out Your Feelings On A Piece Of Paper
Sometimes you just need an outlet. A way to get your feelings out because you just can’t keep everything bottled up for much longer. If my emotions are taking over and I feel like I’m going to explode…I write….a lot. All of the negative feelings I have and anger and sadness that I try to hide all comes out onto a piece of paper. Doing this puts all of my feelings into words that I can read, accept my emotions, and be able to move past them.
Give Yourself A Makeover
I have days when my self-esteem is so low that it just puts me in a terrible mood, and of course, these days only happen when I’m at work all day so there isn’t much I can do about it. So I do what any normal person would do… yes you’re right, get myself ready after work at the end of the day. If it’s a really bad day, I go all out. Fix my hair, do my makeup, and put on a nice outfit even if it is for twenty minutes. Those twenty minutes are all it takes to completely change my mood, I just need to feel good about myself.
Get Some Exercise
“Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people don’t just shoot their husbands.”
Elle Woods couldn’t have put it any better. Whenever I am having just a bad day and I can’t seem to get to a good place mentally, I hit the gym. I always feel better after spending about 30 minutes on the stair master and working up a sweat. If you don’t have a gym membership; you can go for a walk around your neighborhood, or complete an At-Home workout.
Call or FaceTime a Loved One
Talking with someone who loves you and really understands you is something that can just be what you need. I almost always need to be in some sort of conversation with someone. It makes me feel connected to other people, and when I’m not it feels very lonely. I’ve always been this way. If I was hanging out with a friend, and they were texting someone else; I would scroll through my contacts and pick a random person to start a conversation with. Why am I this way? Because I love feeling connected.
Spend Some Time In The Sun
This is just a known fact that being out in the sunshine can boost your mood. Here’s a quick little science lesson. The sun rays give off Vitamin D3 which your body needs. Just spending a least 10 minutes in sunlight increases your body’s Vitamin D3 level which boosts your mood and happiness level. Just make sure to put on sunscreen first to block out the UV rays.
